#FridayFocus – TCP’s Karolina Krizenecka shares her journey and looks ahead

Posted On 24th March 2017

Karolina has been in the TCP programme for the past few years, under the mentorship of David Passmore, alongside many others including Herman Kruis and our very own Norman Hughes. She has achieved her FIH Academy Level 3 coach award through the programme and continues to participate to expand her knowledge and share her experiences with the newcomers to the group.

This past weekend (11 – 12 March) Karolina organised a two day course with over 60 participating coaches in Rakovnik, Czech Republic. Karolina used all the knowledge she has accumulated in the past few years on the TCP programme and her experiences as a player and a coach to draft a 12 hour long course, split into 6 hours of theory and 6 hours of practical on pitch experience.

The course focused on a broad view of hockey strategy, including some offensive and defensive strategies and some sports psychology. The coaches were able to put their new theory into practice right away, by engaging in some coaching sessions with local children and young hockey players, as well as some specialised goalkeeper training.

The course was a great success and Karolina is already planning her next course, this time for the Slovakian Hockey Association, later this year. This year is one of some serious changes for Karolina, who is officially retiring as a player and who is stepping up  her coaching game, and will later this year take over the coaching of the national U21 Czech women’s team.

Norman tell us of Karolina, “Karolina has been a dedicated member of EHF Top Coaches Programme for several years now and in that time we have seen her confidence in her own ability grow. She has shown great determination and an eagerness to keep learning and sharing. Hockey is short of women coaches and to see Karolina’s coaching career growing and growing is a great example to all young female coaches across Europe of what is possible if you really want it.”

Are you a female coach and are looking for more opportunities? Are you a coach looking to improve? Ask your NA to email us about how we can help, and make sure to read about all our Educational programmes on the website: https://testceelect.co.uk/education/
