EHCC 2017, meet Maria Verschoor, AH&BC

Posted On 19th May 2017

19th May 2017: With just 2 weeks to go before the EHCC, the top European women’s outdoor club event gets underway, please meet Maria Verschoor who will play a big part in AH&BC’s team. A central part of the squad since 2012 and an international on the powerful Dutch women’s senior side since the young page of 19!

Maria, what does it mean to be playing for Amsterdam in the EHCC?

I do really like playing in the EHCC, because it’s totally different from what we are used to with Amsterdam, I like to play internationally with our club and have the change to play against other countries top teams.

How different is it playing for your club rather than The Netherlands?

It’s totally different, normally with your club you only play against Dutch other clubs and with the Dutch team you only play international against other countries, so that’s why it’s nice to play with your club team international games against other countries top club teams.

What message would you give to young female hockey players aspiring to get to this level?

Enjoy it as much as you can, have fun, don’t over-focus but work hard and keep on dreaming

Apart from your playing (that’s a given) what do you bring to the team?

I hope to bring some fun in the team, a good laugh and to be a connector between everyone.

Favourite hockey trick?

I like to sham and then take the ball inside with a chop ball!

Maria’s message to non-hockey fans…

If you’ve never watched hockey, you’ve missed a lot. 😉  It’s a fast going game, it’s dynamic, the game keeps on going, balls are taken fast and if you don’t pay attention enough you’ll  miss some great creativity actions and fast play.

Thanks Maria! We are more than excited that AH&BC are taking over our Insatgram account on 21st May… watch what these guys get up to for fun!

All the EHCC games will be Live Streamed
