5th June 2017: HC ‘s Hertogenbosch is crowned EuroHockey Club Champions 2017! A polished performance from the mighty women in black and yellow saw off the strong German opposition in Uhlenhorster HC, the final score of 2-1 to the hosts was a reflection of the very close final.

Bronze Medal game:  Surbiton HC 1 – 3 AH&BC Amsterdam

Earlier in the day Amsterdam H&BC took the bronze medal at the EuroHockey Club Cup. With a 3-1 win over Surbiton HC. MÜLLER opened the scoring for Amsterdam with an inch perfect shot into the bottom corner from a PC in the 15th minute. Captain STAM doubled their lead in the 24th minute, another perfect drag flick hitting the back of the net! They remained ahead 2-0 at half time.

Surbiton worked their way back into the game via a WEBB slap that was deflected in. 2-1 after 28 minutes and that’s how the score remained into the break. But in the 32nd minute VEGA’s sublime sweep from a very smart pass across the circle re-established their 2 goal advantage. In spite of a valiant effort from the English team the final score remained 3-1 in favour of Amsterdam.

Final:  HC ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2 – 1 UHC Hamburg

A good start from Den Bosch as they immediately pressed deep into UHC territory. Electric WELTEN and her front line caused havoc in the German defence, with UHC busy absorbing the pressure… Den Bosch were rewarded for all the pressure with a PC in the 10th minute. A classic PAUMEN low and hard strike rattled the back board, going ahead 1-0.

UHC did equalise set up by some powerful midfield play from MÜLLER-WIELAND from the midfield and finished by HOFFMANN. The score of 1-1 was how they entered the break.

A slower start to the second half, with no real chances early on, Den Bosch earned a PC in the SANDERS in the 45th minute! A PAUMEN strike that she deflected in as FRANK just got a stick to the strike.

With 3 minutes to go a fantastic drilled ball into the circle fromWELTEN gave Den Bosch a chance to seal the win but unusually no one was on the end of it!

HC ‘s Hertogenbosch held out for the win!

Huge tributes were paid to Maartje Paumen who is stepping away from Den Bosch and heading for pastures new in Belgium for the start of the new season.

In addition, the legend in the goal for UHC, Yvonne Frank was honoured by her club as she retires as a player.
