Posted On 6th July 2017

5th July 2017: The opening game between Austria & Denmark began in rain, but that didn’t  stop the Austrians from scoring a few beautiful long range goals and winning.

France & Turkey stared in todays second game had to deal with rain too, and they did it very well showing the great pace of 5’s international hockey, and scoring 5 goals. The final score was 3-2 for France

Playing 5v5 gives the players a lot room to play and Wales exactly knew how to use it while they were overcame Georgia, scoring 15 goals against them, Georgians players never gave up and did score 2 goals but it was not even close to great Welsh performance.

Next up was Ukraine v Bulgaria, Bulgaria had huge problems to leaving their own half because of the pressure they were put under by they Ukrainians, they went down 15-0.

Poland vs Lithuania was the most awaited game by Walczan public. And for sure most vibrant, when a Polish striker scored an opening goal in first few seconds!

Poland were very active in the 1st period with 6 goals. Everyone expected final score to be huge, but 2nd period didn’t brought us any goals, 3rd period also failed to bring many goals. Final score was 9-1 for Poland.

In the next game, Switzerland & Finland faced up to each other. After one-sided game Switzerland took the win with 10 goals on the scoreboard.  The final score was 10-1 for Switzerland

The sun was shining so bright that it had to mean something, and it does for Danish players who scored 10 times against Georgia, a tough start to the tournament from the young Georgian team.

Croatia and France took a good rest after morning games, and produced a tight game that was tied almost until the end when France pressed hard and came away with 10-3 scoreline that did not reflect how close the game was.

Another tight  game between Wales & Austria was played in the shiny weather, and the winner (Austria 7-5) could not be called until the end!

Game between Bulgaria and Finland did not produce many goal  but that doesn’t mean that it was not exiting! Both of the teams showed us how teamwork does look like,  and in the end Bulgaria took the lead and won 4-2

The first tied game of the day was Ukraine v Bulgaria 3-3.

The action gets underway again at 09.00 CET with the final pool games at 11.30!
