16th July: Following our EuroHockey5s events we start today with our EuroHockey Junior, (U21) athletes season! In the Men’s Championships II event in St.Petersburg 8 teams take to the stage, all vying for the same prize, promotion to the Championships in 2019.
Pool A is made up of Czech Republic, France, Turkey and Ukraine. France was relegated from the Championship Division in 2014, so will be looking to regain their place there. Meanwhile Turkey and Czech were promoted from Championship II in 2014. Ukraine will be looking to improve on their 6th place finish in this Division in 2014.
Pool B comprises the hosts Russia, along with Italy, Poland and Scotland. Scotland come to St.Petersburg as bronze medalists in this division in 2014, they have their minds clearly set on doing one better and gaining promotion, Italy were beaten into 4th place in 2014 by Scotland, so that will be a interesting re-match this year! The hosts finished 5th last time round, so they are looking to home advantage to see them into the semi-finals and a chance at promotion.
