Scotland v Italy 5:1
Goals: Harwood(2,1-p.c.), Gladwin
The Scottish team was pleasantly surprised by this tough game, defeating opponents from Italy with a score of 5:1. Although for them it didn’t start well. The Italians were the first to score, via Valentino. After that, the Scottish team rallied and their set pieces started to work. Goals came from Harwood x2, Gladwin, Cranny and Golden.
Stefano Pagliara, team manager of Italy said : – “It was a very strong game, there were some stick skills that made the difference. So, we did not defend very well in this match.”
Christopher Anderson, assistant coach of team Scotland said: – “I am really pleased for the guys. We assessed the game with Poland, so, we can be sure that today’s game would go well.”
Russia v Poland 0:2
Goals: Pawlak, Nowakowski
The game between Russia and Poland began slowly. Neither team was keen to concede posession. However, the Polish team scored in the 8th minute. Pavlak sent the ball into the goal of Ivan Zuykov. From the second quarter the Russian team took the initiative, and created a lot of dangerous chances. Nevertheless, the jitters of the previous day raised their heads again and the defensive line of the Russian team repeatedly conceded to the attacking opponents. In the 54 minute, after a long attack, Novakovski sent the second ball into the Russian teams goal. To top it all, the Polish team earned a penalty stroke, but Ivan Zuikov did not allow Pavlak to increase the score.
Alexander Platonov, assistant coach of team Russia said: – “We conceded two goals. Unless there are no goals, then what can be said? There is no comments. The chances of reaching the semi-finals left? Chances are… we will need a 3:0 or three goals over the Scots. We are woking hard and creating chances but struggling to find the target.”
Dominik Kotulsky, player of Poland added: – “That was really important game for us. There was almost every team in our pool has 3 points. And now we have 6. So we are on 1st pool stage. Now we are looking for next game. We need just 1 more win to promote to the next level.”
