Ladies Day at EuroHockey Championships III, Sveti Ivan Zelina, Croatia

3rd August 2017: It was ladies day in Sveti Ivan Zelina, as the teams jostled for position and the chance to earn promotion to the Championships II 

Turkey 8–0 Slovenia (W)
Slovenia started  the game well creating a couple of chances and were defending well, but at the beginning of the second quarter Turkey started to use their chances and scored two goals before the half ended. In the second half Slovenia grew tired and Turkey used that to pull off the win. This was Slovenia’s final game of the Tournament. They are determined to use the experience of tournament play after an absence of 12 years, to get better!

Switzerland 4-1 Croatia (W)
A match which both teams needed to win. Switzerland started the game better and scored an early goal. They followed their good play with two more goals before Croatia managed to get one back. Both opponents were equal in terms of their play. Switzerland managed to secure their win with a late goal in the second half.

The final day’s play for the women is tomorrow, 4th August, these games will determine who will be promoted to Championship II in 2019:
