18th September 2017: We start our Autumn series of #MotivationMonday articles by showcasing hockey in Finland as the Finnish Hockey Association strives to not only maintain it’s players but by offering a wonderful event for its clubs, they are looking at growing the hockey family in Finland, especially amongst young boys and girls.
Our Motivation Monday series will highlight hockey in our developing and established hockey countries as well as showcase those who are really working hard to grow our sport.
On Saturday 16 September Finnish Hockey 2017 Finals were played at Finnish Hockey national stadium Helsinki Velodromi (the venue of 1952 Olympic Hockey). The event called ”Final Day” consisted of following matches: Boys U21 Final, Women Final and Bronze match, Boys U16 Final and Bronze match.
A fantastic family day out saw all the finals but in particular two extreme thrillers as both men and Boys U16 finals went all the way to the shoot-outs. At the end of the day the following clubs were names Finnish Champions:
· Women: ABC-Team, Helsinki
· Men: Seinäjoki United
· Boys U21: BMT, Lahti
· Boys U16: Narukerä, Pori
U14 and U12 Hockey Leagues were finished earlier.
A huge well done to Finnish hockey and all its volunteers who made this a special day for all.
