All four EHL ROUND1 groups locked on five points after day two

Posted On 7th October 2017

All four EHL ROUND1 groups will be decided on the final day with two teams level on five points in each following the completion of day two in Barcelona.

In Pool B, Dinamo Elektrostal got their campaign started with an 11-2 win over Cardiff & Met with five field goals to their name with Georgii Arusiia’s penalty corner and a Nikita Dvoretskii field goal setting them on their way in the first quarter before Andrey Kuraev’s double stretched them clear (click here for full report and videos). If they can beat Ulhenhorst Mulheim on Sunday, they will earn a KO16 slot.

In Pool C, WKS Grunwald Poznan struck late on to record a comfortable-looking 6-0 victory though they had to spend a lot of time defending against Irish Senior Cup winners Banbridge. Pawel Bratkowski’s drag-flick was the only goal of the first half before Michal Poltaszewski scored a brilliant second goal before they eventually made the game safe (click here for full report and videos). Grunwald will now hope Banbridge can beat Racing by more than two goals or else the Belgians will advance.

Wimbledon bounced back from opening day defeat to Bloemendaal to beat SV Arminen 9-0 with a score in each quarter. John Kinder started the run before Iain Lewers’ penalty stroke made it 3-0 and three second half field goals saw the score expand quickly (click here for full report and videos). The situation in Pool A is that a Bloemendaal draw or better against Arminen puts them through.

In PoolHugo Genestet’s second minute corner goal saw Saint Germain take the points with a narrow and dramatic 1-0 win over Bromac Kelburne, setting up an exciting Sunday evening date with Club Egara for a KO16 ticket (click here for report and videos). A win of any kind puts Saint Germain through; Egara need a draw.
