It’s not about the club that wins the titles, but about clubs who grow and promote hockey in their community; clubs who work hard to develop their players, volunteers, coaches, umpires, facilities. There are two competition tiers; Large Club Award (300+ members) and Small Club Award ( fewer than 300 members).

Large Club of the Year 2016: SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg, Germany
Heike Deutschmann, Head of SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg was very happy to get the news for her club. She tells us, “Putting together the application for the EHF Hockey Club of the Year 2016 award already brought back strong memories… 2016 was the most successful year in the club’s history and we are simply overwhelmed by being awarded this prestigious title”.
Maren Boyé, the Director for Sports Development at the Deutscher Hockey-bund said: “We are very proud that one of our German Clubs won the EHF Club of the Year award and congratulate the Hockey club SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg for its exemplary work for hockey… SG Rotation Prenzlauer Berg has changed in the past 15 years from a small club to a large and innovative one with school cooperations, many licensed Hockey coaches, junior and senior umpires, offering many good opportunities to enjoy Hockey and the free time in the club.
Small Club of the Year 2016: Grove Menzieshill HC, Scotland
Grove Menzieshill HC is only 7 years old. It was formed in 2010 with the merger of Grove Ladies and Menzieshill Men to create a club for the whole family. The youngest members are 5 years old and the oldest playing member is 65 years old!
What does it mean to win this award? Grove Menzieshill’s leadership tells us: “The recognition of our efforts has put Grove Menzieshill Hockey Club ‘on the world map’ and helped the promotion of the City of Dundee and Scotland. We have received many notes of congratulations from around the world since the award was announced. We are extremely proud to be recognised as the ‘EHF Club of the Year (Small) in 2016. This award has invigorated and excited all our club members: their efforts are recognised internationally!
