Day 2 EuroHockey Club Trophy, Minsk – roundup!

17th February 2018: After the morning session, the pool C relegation and pool D promotion became clear: 

Game 9: KS Pomorzanin Torun (POL) 4 – 4 (3 – 2) HC Bra (ITA)

Pomorzanin Torun really need win or draw this game to get points for pool D. The Italian team, leaving no chance to get maximum 5 points. Nicholas CHIESA scored the last goal at the last minute and bury the chances of Polish team getting the points they needed.

Game 10: Grove Menzieshill (SCO) 4 – 6 (1 – 2) Slagelse HC (DEN)

If Slagelse HC lost this game they  wouldn’t be in pool D.  After the first half Denmark club led 2:1 but in 24th minute they nearly lost the advantage via a  Cameron GOLDEN goal. Slagelse won the game 4-6.

Game 11: Partille SC (SWE)  7 – 3 (2 – 3) Lille MHC (FRA)

Lille started better than Partille – the first half ended 2:3. But these were all goals that Lille scored in this game. Tobias GRAND,  Axel STRÖBY and Johan BJÖRKMAN (three goals) helped their team in the second half  to win this game.  So Partille play in the promotional D pool.

Game 12: Hockey Klub Zelina (CRO)   3 – 3 (2 – 1) HC Minsk (BLR)

A late equaliser from Minsk earned then a draw. The Croatian’s needed the win to make it to the promotional pool, the draw was not enough.


In the afternoon sessions the Pool C and D were played. Grove Menzieshill, HC Bra, Lille MHC  and Hockey Klub Zelina will play for right to stay in the  Trophy,  HC Minsk, Slagelse HC, Partille SC and KS Pomorzanin Torun have chance to promote to Eurohockey Indoor Club Cup on 2019.

Game 13: HC Bra (ITA)     2 – 5 (1 – 2) Hockey Klub Zelina (CRO)

Italian team lost the opportunity to stay in Trophy. In pool C club they came with only one point so they needed to win but Zelina was stronger. The first half end was 2:1 and then Zelina went on to win 2-5.

Game 14: Grove Menzieshill (SCO)   2 – 3 (1 – 1)  Lille MHC (FRA)

The first half on this game ended 1:1. Thomas BECUWE and Benjamin MARQUE, Lille,  scored 2 goals in the second half. Grove Menzieshill did all to get more points but only in last minute Michael ROSS scored one goal,

Game 15: KS Pomorzanin Torun (POL) 3 – 6 (1 – 2)  Partille SC (SWE)

Swedish club got points that they need – Johan BJÖRKMAN one of the best scorers in tournament scored 4 goals for his team.  Pomorzanin Torun lost this match and didn’t get points for this game.

Game 16: Slagelse HC (DEN)  2 – 10 (1 – 6)  HC Minsk (BLR)

Minsk has one goal for this game – win it because victory in this match would have given them  points to promote to Club Cup. The best striker in this game Aliaksandr Hancharou scoring 5 goals which helped to win this game.
