#EHCC – HC Victorya Smolevichi

Posted On 3rd May 2018

3rd May 2018: HC Victorya Smolevichi  will have to travel the furthest to get to the EHCC in Surbiton, London. A distance of some 2224 kms will take the Belarussian ladies to London!

Who are Victoria HC ?

The team “VICTORYA” was formed in February 1993  in Smolevichi on the grass fields in the local sports school. Hockey club “Victorya” was founded in 2000. During the existence of the club, the following results were achieved:

– repeated silver medalists of the Belarusian Championships

– Champions of the Republic of Belarus on field hockey 2016-2017

– Champions of the Republic of Belarus for Indoor Hockey 2010

– four-time winners of the Cup of the European Cup holders “Trophy” on field hockey.

In 2009, the hockey club became the State Institution “Minsk Regional Club” Victoria “.

It is a small club with only 23 players, but includes 15 members of the National women’s hockey team.

Their record in EHCC:

Whilst this is Victoria’s first venture in the EHCC, Belarussian clubs have been busy earning ranking points in the Trophy division over the past few years.

Under the direction of Dutchman Herman Kruis the culture of training in Belarus has been completely overhauled to a more professional approach. Belarus Hockey has experienced a revival, especially in indoor hockey as this more professional approach has brought with more focussed, fitter players.

We are looking forward to seeing Victoria HC in action against current Championship ‘s Hertogenbosch, a big challenge for the ladies from Belarus.
