Sarah Robinson, UCD

Posted On 13th May 2018

13th May 2108: Say hello to Sarah Robinson, a stalwart defender for UCD, having played there for the past 5 years during her studies as a Nurse and now in her final year as a post grad. We caught up with her to chat about playing in the EHCC;

EHF: So as a side how important is it to play at this high level in the EHCC:

Sarah: It is so important for UCD to be playing in the EHCC in order to improve as a squad and as a college university side. We were fortunate enough to play in the competition in 2014 and really enjoyed he experience of playing at the top level of club hockey. we are really looking forward to the challenge the competition poses.

EHF: As this is your final year in the Club, what has college hockey meant to you?

Sarah: It has without a doubt being one of the best decisions I made to play my club hockey with UCD. I will definitely cherish all the success we have had has a team particularly over the last year winning the national titles but most of all I hope that the friendships I’ve made in UCD will be with me for years to come.

EHF: Dog or cat person?

Sarah: Cat for sure! I have a horrible cat but still……

EHF: Apart from your skills, what do you bring to the team?

With a wry smile Sarah said: I hope I bring a high standard of commitment to training etc but also a fun energy and the girls would probably say too much noise!

EHF: Favorite trick?

Sarah: Haha I am not sure I have a favourite trick, try and leave that to the much more capable forwards!

EHF: We have just announced that we will be streaming the EHCC, is this important for the event?

Sarah: It’s so important, it gives people all around Europe the opportunity to watch the best teams in Europe compete at a really high level. It also allows young people and supporters to tune in who may not be able to travel to London for the tournament and generally raises the profile of hockey!

A huge thanks to Sarah (Robinson) from UCD for taking some time out from training to chat with us! Wishing her and the women from UCD safe travels and the best of luck in the opening game v AH&BC – which you can watch LIVE here
