19th May 2018: After a fantastic display of world class hockey, in both semi-finals; it is a repeat of the 2017 EHCC Final as UHC Uhlenhorster faces Hertogenbosch in tomorrow’s final.
UHC Hamburg 1 AH&BC Amsterdam 1 (Hamburg win 5-4 on shootout)
For the second year running, UHC Hamburg knocked AH&BC Amsterdam out of the EHCC at the semi-final stage in a shootout after a draw in normal time. Charlotte van Bodegom put Hamburg ahead in the 13th minute. Amsterdam came close to equalising in the 27th minute, Lauren Stam’s pass to Kitty van Male sent past the left post from the Dutch club’s third penalty corner. Hamburg defended five penalty corners in all, but were caught out with nine minutes to play, Charlotte Vega levelling from open play to force a shootout. After the first two attempts for each side, the score was 2-2, Roda Müller-Wieland* and Hannah Siefert scoring for Hamburg; Maria Verschoor and Marijn Veen replying for Amsterdam. Marie Mävers put Hamburg 3-2 ahead only for Lauren Stam to be denied by Noelle Rother in the German goal. Jana Teschke extended Hamburg’s lead, with Eva de Goede to make the score 4-3 to Hamburg. Katharina Frank had the chance to clinch the win for Hamburg, only for the ball to go past the right post. Felice Albers forced sudden death with the score 4-4. In sudden death, Amsterdam went first and after Maria Verschoor blazed the ball over the bar, Marie Mävers kept her cool to put Hamburg in Sunday’s final.

Hamburg celebrate winning their semi-final of the Pure Storage EuroHockey Club Cup after a shoot out at Surbiton HCDen Bosch 3 Club Campo De Madrid 1
EHCC Holders, Den Bosch beat Club Campo De Madrid in the second semi-final as the heat intensified both on the pitch and weatherwise. Den Bosch took the lead in the sixth minute, Lieke Hulsen turning in a cross from the left at the right post. Den Bosch still led 1-0 at half time, but Campo were unlucky not to equalise in the 24th minute, Lucia Abajo Saenz de Tejada forcing a fine save from Josine Koning. Ireen van den Assem extended Den Bosch’s lead from the penalty spot in the 38th minute, only for Rebecca Grote to pull a goal back three minutes later, again from the penalty spot, the ball powered into the top left corner. Marlies Verbruggen clinched Den Bosch’s place in the final two minutes from the end of the third quarter. Campo replaced their goalkeeper with a kicking back with less than four minutes to play, but Campo failed to make a breakthough and will face AH&BC Amsterdam in Sunday’s third place playoff.
