25th May 2018: This weeks FridayFocus takes us to Finland. A very proud, if somewhat small hockey playing nation. Finnish Hockey has a strong vision for hockey and recognises that it is through good coaching and coaching education that they can build a stronger, better hockey family there.
Through the EHF’s Supporting National Growth programme we sent EHF/FIH Educators Norman Hughes & Darren Cheesman to Helsinki at the start of April to deliver a EHF/FIH Academy Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching seminars over 3 days.
19 coaches attended the seminar and such topics as coaching styles, communication styles and techniques were covered on and off the pitch.
Who participated?
- L1 – 11 candidates participated
- L2 – 7 candidates participated
The EHF would like to congratulate Finnish Hockey Federation for staging this event and investing in their future coaches. Discussions also took place with about future Coach Development plans which Finnish Hockey recognises as the cornerstone to growth.
