EuroHockey Youth Championships III 2018 U18 girls and boys

16th July 2018: The EuroHockey U18 Championships II got underway in Konya, Turkey, yesterday:

Round-up Girls:


The first period of the opening match of U18 Girls’ Championship ended with mutual attacks, with no goal. At the start of the second period, Croatia won a penalty corner and scored via Petra Hrubec. In the 27th of the second period, Switzerland won a penalty corner and Schmid Rahel scored the first goal for Switzerland. By starting the third period,  Switzerland has increased the attacks and with the last minutes, Switzerland dominated after Thuering and Kretschmar scored to finish the game 4-1.


The second match was between host country Turkey and Ukraine. Turkey opened the scoring in 1st minute with Tuğçe Şahiner. With frequent attacks against Turkey, Ukraine scored in the 14th minute via VOIEVODA Anastasiia. Both teams were unable to score the goals they had captured. İn 44th minute RUDYCHENKO Valeriia scored one goal and Ukraine won 2-1.

Roundup – Boys 


Finland opened the scoring with a goal of MÄÄTTÄNEN on 9th minutes. After this goal, Finland attacked to make the score 2-0 and they did what they want with HINTSANEN goal on 18th minute. After these scores, Hungary changed their tactics and this ended up with a goal of WESSELÉNYI  with a penalty corner. And the match 2-1 ended with a Finnish win. HUNGARY-FINLAND 1-2 HUNGARY-FINLAND 1-2


On the second match of the boy’s tournament, Ukrainian side played better against Croatia. On 5th second with a penalty corner, KAPLINSKYI scored the first goal. On 26th minutes Ukraine had their second goal via RUDNITSKYI. After 2-0 scores of Ukraine, Croatia lost the control. Ukraine had the match with a 9-0 score. At the end of last-minute Croatia catch the chance to score with FLIKAČ. And the match is ended with the supremacy of Ukraine 9-1.


The last match of the tournament the host team Turkey and Lithuania faced each other.
The encounter of the two teams, which corresponded to the same forces, was a great pleasure for the spectators.  The first two periods of the match continued with mutual attacks but could not find goals in both teams. In the 31st minute, Turkey went ahead 1-0 with a fantastic goal from Furkan Özkılıç. Although there are no goals in the remaining minutes both teams struggled to score. Match ended with a 1-0 Turkey’s advantage.
