Day 6 EuroHockey U18 Championships, II, Girls, Rakovnik, Czech Republic

It was a very important day yesterday at the Championship II. Semi-finale day. The finalists will advance to the Championships division.

In the morning they played the pool “C” – Italy, Lithuania, Wales, Poland.

Lithuania v Italy 0:7

The first match was between Lithuania x Italy. Italy played a little bit better hockey during the whole tournament. After the first half, Italy led 2:0 thanks to Sara Puglisi. During the second half, she added another 4 goals (a double hattrick) !!! Her colleague added the last one. Italy won 7:0.

Wales v Poland 1:1

Nobody knew how the match will look. The whole match was very balanced. In the 6th minute, Wales scored. Poland wanted to make a goal as well. They made it in the 47th minute. Final score – 1:1.

Scotland v Austria 2:1

Semifinal was here between Scotland and Austria. There was no leader, but Scotland showed us during tournament very nice technically hockey. Therefore, at the beginning of the second halftime, they led 2:0. Austria started to push very hard. Austria decreased the score to 1:2. After that, the score didn’t change until the end of the match. Scotland is the first finalist and at the same time, they will move to a higher division.

Czech Republic v Russia 0:1

The host team, the Czech Republic, started to push very hard from the very beginning. They knew that Russia plays very quickly and good-quality hockey the whole tournament. Czech girls had 5 pcs in the first half and 3 huge chances. But it was the Russian team who scored first. The second half was very balanced with nice chances on both sides. The final score was 1:0 for Russia.

The finalists are Scotland and Russia.
