Day 2 roundup: EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge I

Another full day in Oslo as the race hots up as to who will be promoted to the Trophy in 202o!

Match 9- Bologna 1-8 Three Rock Rovers

A game of 2 halves. The first, end-to-end from both teams. Lots of pace and some great counter attacks earned Three Rok 2 field goals. Bolgona made it 2-1 at half time with a sublime PC flick from Sergey Statyuk. The second half was all Three Rock. Some very cool, calm, direct passing moves earned them 6 unanswered second-half goals including 2 from Ross Canning

Match 10- Cardiff & Met 2-2 Vinnitsa

A cagey game with lots of turnovers of possession led to a game full of running. Some fine goalkeeping making the scoreline a lot lighter than it could have been. Onofriiuk scored from some superb team play down the side channels however Cardiff remained resolute, got one back and the game finished 2-2.

Match 11- Senkvice 3-4 Lousada

Despite heavy defeats, Senkvice came at this game hard and fast, at one stage leading 3-2 against a very strong Lousada side who were trying to win the pool against the Slovakian side. Some creative field goals in the final 10 minutes from Bruno Santos and Carlos Almeida meant the Portuguese outfit won the pool, but boy did Senkvice make them work for it

Match 12- Inverleith 6-4 Kringsja

A pulsating match full of fast play and physical challenges saw the Scots come out on top against a spirited Kringsja team in front of a very raucous home crowd. 2 goals in the final 3 minutes from Stephen Dock and Alex Wilson sealed a win and put Inverleith into the promotion pool.

Match 13- Senkvice 1-4 Cardiff & Met

Cardiff dominated possession in this key game in the relegation pool. A hat-trick for Ieuan Davies, all field goals, together with a PC goal for Jack Valentine, led to a comfortable, crucial win for the Welsh team and boost their survival hopes for the division.

Match 14- Kringsja 3- 4 Vinnitsa

Another large, loud home crowd made gave this game added bite. For every goal Kringsja got back, Vinnitsa replied to stay in front. Despite late pressure from Kringsja, the Ukrainians held on to sneak victory.

Match 15- Inverleith 5-5 Bologna

A passionate, loud game with goals and drama aplenty. Inverleith led 4-1 at half time thanks to solid  passing field play and some great creative play in the circle including 2 goals in three minutes for Aedan McCrossan. But you can never write the Italians off and the game finished 55 thanks to a last minute PC conversion from Nicola Missaglia. What a game!

Match 16- Lousada 5-3 Three Rock Rovers

In the final game of the day we saw the 2 pool winners meet each other in a tense, physical encounter. Lousada Led 3-1 at half time but were never comfortable against Three Rock who kept coming back at them. Some great goalkeeping and defending by Lousada pegged the Irish back and despite playing the last 2 minutes with a kicking back, Three Rock just couldn’t catch the Portuguese.
