Belfius EuroHockey Championships 2019 presents the first official Side-events

Posted On 27th February 2019

The EHF and the Royal Belgian Hockey Association are delighted to present the first official side-events for the Belfius EuroHockey Championships 2019, which takes place on the Wilrijkse Plein-site in Antwerp from 16 to 25 August. With these announcements, the countdown to the event can really begin!

Through these side-events, we hope to fully immerse the city of Antwerp in a true hockey atmosphere and involve every citizen in this prestigious tournament. An Urban Street Hockey Tour will travel around multiple Antwerp locations to introduce the sport of hockey to “non-hockeyfans”,

Red Lion Tom Boon will organise a top-quality youth camp in Beerschot HC and the eleventh edition of hockey -and music festival Club Tropicana will go through at K. Mechelse HC. Moreover, the fourth Euro ParaHockey Championships will be held in the local club Victory HC and the organization, in cooperation with the EHF, also hosts two multi-day congresses: the EHF Youth Leadership Festival and the EHF Top Coaches Programme. The goal of these congresses is to stimulate young entrepreneurial leaders and top coaches from all over Europe to present their hockey projects and learn from each other.

2019 promises to be an exceptionally busy hockey year for the city of Antwerp.

Prior to the Belfius EuroHockey Championships in August, six of the eight home games in the prestigious FIH Pro League also will be played at the Wilrijkse plein-site during May and June. (more info)
