Anne Schröder – Der Club an der Alster

Posted On 16th April 2019

There are two German teams back in the EHCC this year, a first since 2014. Both happen to be also from Hamburg, Club an der Alster and UHC Hamburg.

First up, meet Anne Schröder who has been playing for Club an der Alster for the past 6 years. She dreams of winning the EuroHockey Club Cup with her beloved club and onwards to gold glory later this year with Die Danas at the Belfius EuroHockey Championships.

Anne is currently combining her studies, psychology (Master) with her hockey and spending time a lot of time with friends & family, drinking coffee in the sun in beautiful Hamburg! (sounds perfect to us!)

Of their opening game at the EuroHockey Club Cup v, Surbiton Anne said “We haven’t played them before, only against England and GB so we will know a lot of players. I’m excited to see which international players will play at the EHCC. If Hollie Webb is playing she’s definitely for me “THE” Player to watch in their team. One fun fact is that Alice Sharp played for our Club a few years ago and is now playing with Surbiton against us.”

She is “definitely” looking forward to playing in the Wagener Stadium “It’s an awesome stadium and a perfect pitch to play. Some of us already played the EuroHockey Championships there in 2017 and the atmosphere was amazing! We are looking forward to playing in these awesome facilities.”

On hearing that all the games will be streamed she concluded our interview with this view “It’s very important that women support women’s sport so it’s a perfect opportunity to promote our sport with the EHF video channel! We should all feel responsible to make our beautiful sport even bigger and more popular!”

Thanks, Anne so much for taking the time to chat with us! All the games will be live streamed so you can follow Surbiton v An der Alster here.
