#MondayMotivation – Carola Meyer elected as DHB President

EHF Vice President Carola Meyer has been elected as the first woman to head the German Hockey Federation at the Congress of the DHB in the Rhineland-Palatinate Grünstadt. 

She received 939 votes of the delegates, while the former President Wolfgang Hillmann 656 votes. Subsequently, almost all vice presidential candidates of her team were elected to the new posts.

Speaking with Carola over the weekend she said “I am overwhelmed by the confidence that the delegates put in our team and me. My big wish is that as a united hockey family. I am particularly proud of our equal gender Board and hope to bring (German) hockey back to stability with more transparency, communication and performance.”

As vice-president of competitive sports, Marie-Theres Gnauert (Berlin) was almost unanimously confirmed in office. Marc Stauder (Dusseldorf) was unanimously voted Vice President Finance. The vote for the other Vice Presidents Julia Walter (Berlin, Communications & Events), Klaus Täubrich (Hamburg, Marketing & Digital) and Dr. Christian Deckenbrock. Jan-Hendrik Fischedick was re-elected and the board was completed with Anette Breucker (Stuttgart) who had already been elected to the Youth Parliament in March and joins the Board as Vice President Youth.

The EHF President, Marijke Fleuren said of her fellow EHF Board member “Carola is the first woman President of an Olympic Sport in Germany, I could not be more proud of her. She continues to be a loyal servant of hockey and a dear friend and we are looking forward to working with her and her team over the coming years.”
