History is made at EuroHockey Club Challenge IV as Luxembourg take to the field!

6th June 2019

It was a momentous first day at the IZIBET EuroHockey Club Challenge IV, Kordin, as Luxembourg HC played its first-ever EuroHockey game.

However, the tournament kicked off with the match Seinajoki against Kringsja. Both teams held their own for the first quarter, until the 24th minute when Kringsja scored the opener. The floodgates opened, with three more goals following in quick succession. Kringsja took the score up to nine, with hat tricks from Abhishek Singh and Arunpreet Sing Garcha, with a goal from Seinajoki as a consolation.

The second match between Eagles and HC Kilppari was another high scoring affair. Julian Lopez set the tone for the game with an eight-minute hat-trick. Eagles followed up with another five goals without response, proving too tough for their opponents.

The third match saw another five goals, with four goals going the way of Epitok to seal the deal against HC Luxembourg.

Finally, the hotly contested match between local rivals Qormi Daikin HC and Floriana Youngstars HC proved to be a tight affair, with a goal in each half from the Qormi boys to seal it.

Speaking with player/coach  Jarmo Kruse from Luxembourg HC after the game he said of the experience to date “A lot of things to discover today. Equipment check, entering the pitch in a specific order, hearing our names … so we were a bit nervous. Especially, as we almost conceded a goal in the first seconds. Then we improved quarter by quarter. Tomorrow we are optimistic to show our full potential.” We wish them all the best tomorrow as they face Young Stars!
