Nacka LHK (SWE) – Grupo Desportivo do Viso (POR) 2-5 (0-1)

The final day of the EuroHockey Club Challenge III 2019 Women in Boryspil stared with the game for 5th place between Swedish Nacka LHK and Viso from Portugal. Because of an injury Nacka could only field 9 players but as it was yesterday they had won the sympathy vote of the Ukrainian spectators. Nacka defended bravely from the beginning of the game and even came to some chances. Having 2 players more on the pitch Viso had the initiative but they couldn’t find a goal until finally 2 minutes before half time Raquel PINTO broke the deadlock. In the third quarter Viso dominated the game completely and became very effective with their opportunities. In 7 minutes they scored 4 goals. First it was Joana SANTOS who scored from a penalty corner. To the delight of the home crowd Nacka got a penalty stroke only a minute after the Portuguese had scored. Anne JEUTE took her responsibility and scored the first goal of the tournament for her team. The joy for the Swedish team lasted for just a short period. First it was Flavia OLIVEIRA who scored a penalty corner before Raquel PINTO got her second goal of the game. In the last moments of the third quarter Maria VIEIRA scored the fifth goal for Viso from open play. The result seemed hopeless for Nacka, but they continued bravely in the fourth quarter and got rewarded with a goal in the last minute of the game when Rose VANHECKE round up a nice counter attack bringing the final score to 2-5 for Viso. After the game there were birthday celebrations for Hannah VAN MAEL from Nacka LHK. The result means that Nacka LHK get 7th place in the final rankings, while Viso and Gaziantep share 5th place.

Kolos Boryspol (UKR) – Hockey Klub Zelina (CRO) 6-2 (3-1)

In the second game of the day the home team Kolos Boryspol (winners pool B) played Hockey club Zelina from Croatia (#2 pool A) with promotion to Challenge II at stake. Kolos Borispol started furiously and after only 3 minutes they got what they wanted. Captain Nataliia Vasiukova rounded off a beautiful attack and gave her team an early lead. In the fuming heat Kolos Borispol continued their high tempo and got 2 more goals before the end of the first quarter. First Nataliia Vasiukova scored another goal before defender Viktoriya NELYUBA got her first goal of the tournament diving in front of the Croatian goalkeeper to give the home team a 3-0 lead. It was obvious Kolos could not continue at this pace and Zelina gave themselves some hope when Una LITVIC caught the Ukrainian defense off guard and pulled one goal back. In the third quarter Kolos tried to wrap up the game but had trouble scoring a deciding goal until Karyna LEONOVA scored after a pass from Anastasiia LAPA. With the score at 4:1 at the end of the third quarter, this was the sign for Kolos coach Maryna Gorokhova to make some changes and give some reserve players a chance to play. Zelina, however, refused to give up and 7 minutes before time Una LITVIC gave the home crowd a scare when she scored her second goal. To the relief of the home crowd, Kolos captain Nataliia Vasiukova, chasing her top scorer title, scored her third goal of the game and an incredible 9th goal of in total to make sure the game was decided.
