88 games, 17 countries, 290 athletes and 58 hours of EuroHockey5s

Posted On 2nd July 2019

A fiesta of EuroHockey5s starts in Walcz and Albena this week as we deliver 88 matches live on EuroHockeytv!

As we strive in hockey to ensure that we have disciplines of hockey for all, we are delighted with the growth of EuroHockey5s. EuroHockey5s is the official Championships for Under 16’s in Europe and every four years it is a direct Qualifier for the Youth Olympics. EuroHockey5s is a brilliant hockey discipline especially for countries that have challenges with numbers and pitch space. It compliments all our other disciplines and we are delighted with the growth of it around Europe, culminating in the EuroHockey5s Championships that start tomorrow. We are delighted that there will be a ‘shooting zone’ which we believe will increase the skill level required for Hockey5s and we are very excited to see our young players embrace the EuroHockey Championships, for most of them this will be their first ever official event and a highlight of their hockey careers. We wish them all well.

We start with the Championships in Walcz for girls:

In Wattinges in 2017, it was 1. Austria, 2. Poland and 3. Turkey that finished on the podium. This year at the joint event in Walcz, will the hosts go one better or will Austria take the gold again? All to play for as for the most part the teams are totally new, which is very common in this age category.

The boys get underway just 30 minutes after the girls in Walcz:

For the U16 boys, we are back again in the superb world class Olympic training facility in Walcz, Poland. In 2017 it was 1. Poland. 2. France 3. Austria that took the awards. But again speaking with the management, most teams have new squads so its impossible to predict who will be on the podium in 2019. The winner will be known after the 29 games, all of which will be streamed.
