Day 2 – EuroHockey5s U16 Championships II, Boys, Albena

July 5th 2019

  • Match 1: Georgia vs Slovenia (Pool B) 

The second day of the championship started off with the first game being Georgia up against Slovenia. Slovenia was dominant in the game and ended up winning comfortably with the final score ending 7: 1 to the Slovenians.

  • Match 2: Finland vs Luxembourg (Pool B)

There were a lot of twists and turns in the second game of the day between the teams Finland and Luxembourg. It was a very evenly contested match between the two teams and there was some late drama with Finland scoring a very late winner to win the game 3:2.

  • Match 3: Armenia vs Gibraltar(Pool A)

Despite having lost both of there games on the 1st day, the Gibraltar team bounced back with a good win against Armenia. Armenia put up a good fight in the first third of the game but the skill and energy of the Gibraltar team came through and they ended up winning comfortably 7: 2.

  • Match 4:  Bulgaria vs Russia(Pool A)

With both teams winning there first 2 games on the first day, this was a huge match to see would claim the first spot in pool A. It was a very entertaining match but the Russians teams experience showed and they won the game 9:2.

  • Match 5: Russia vs Luxembourg (QF1)

The first qualifying game was played between Russia and Luxembourg. Luxembourg played very well and showed a lot of good spirit and fight but the Russian team came through once again and won 5:1.

  • Match 6: Gibraltar vs Georgia(QF2)

The second qualifying game was played between Gibraltar and Georgia. Gibraltar were extremely dominant in this game and beat the Georgians comfortably with the final score ending at 8: 0.

  • Match 7: Slovenia vs Armenia(QF3)

This was a very close encounter for the first 2 thirds with both sides scoring back to back goals but the energy level and a very impressive final third from the Slovenian team saw them winning quite comfortably with the end score being 8:4 to the Slovenians.

  • Match 8: Bulgaria vs Finland (QF4)

The hosts Bulgaria played the last game of the day against the Finish. The Finish team put up a good fight but the experience and skill of the Bulgarian team came through and resulted in a 6: 2 victory to the host nation Bulgaria.

Here is the top three Goal scorer’s list on Day 2 of the championship. Anton Noshin has a total of 18 goals, the next is Igor Stebenkov who has 10 goals and the third is Velizar Madanski who has 7 goals.
