The opening day of the Men’s EuroHockey Championship IV started off with two exciting matches.

Match 1: Hungary v Norway 2-1 

In the first match, Hungary and Norway faced each other and opened the tournament with much excitement. Norway took the lead rather quickly when Rathore Saim scored during the 8th minute of the game. Norway held their lead until the 50th minute when Suba Tamas of Hungary tied the game with a goal from a penalty corner. Hungary scored again two minutes later with Olaz Balazs scoring their second goal and securing the win for Hungary. The end score was 2-1 for Hungary.

Match 2: Finland v Slovenia 3-1

The second match saw host country Finland face Slovenia in what turned out to be an extremely even match until the third quarter. Finland came on strong during the third quarter with Laiho Sami scoring twice from penalty corners at minutes 41’ and 44’. 7 minutes before the end of the match Slovenia scored from a penalty corner as well. Their goal came at 53 minutes and was scored by Maucec Franc. Finland countered by scoring the last goal of the game 2 minutes later at 55 minutes. The match ended in Finland’s 3-1 win.
