The EHF would like to welcome Dar Hockey Academy to Europe in this special week for us as we start our huge programme of events leading up to the Belfius EuroHockey Championships on Friday.
Dar Hockey Academy will be touring Holland and Belgium from August 13-28. They will be playing, among others, the men’s first teams of Hoofdklasse (top tier of Dutch league) sides, Don Bosch and Tilberg apart from Rijswijk HC’s combined men’s first team and boys’ first team. It is worth mentioning that Rijswijk HC boys’ team is the national under 18 champions of Holland. In Belgium, Dar Academy will face Dragons, the current champions of the country.
Amazingly, this will be their sixth tour of Europe since 2010.
Dar Hockey Academy, which is based in Lahore, is the brainchild of Pakistan’s hockey legend late Munir Dar (Olympic gold medallist 1960). Its founder president Taqueer Dar (Olympic gold medallist 1984), Munir Dar’s son, started the academy in 2006.
Dar Academy is greatly indebted to world-renowned former international umpire Rob Lathouwers of Holland. He has been instrumental in organising all our tours of Holland where his MOP club in Vught has always been academy’s superb hosts. He also played a key role in bringing Flying Dutch Veterans in 2012 and the International XI in 2018, to Pakistan.
Academy is hopeful to get more invitations for tours/tournaments, especially in Europe, if your club can help – get in touch below: http://www.darhockeyacademy.com/
