50 years of the EHF, a celebratory lunch filled with laughter and camaraderie

Posted On 16th August 2019

Between the morning and afternoon sessions, those attending the 2019 General Assembly celebrated the 50th anniversary at a lunch filled with laughter and camaraderie. Those in attendance received a welcome from Executive Board Member Walter Kapounek during which he commended them for the work that they do on behalf of hockey.

Later, Leandro Negre, son of EHF founder Pablo Negre, had warm words for those around him. He thanked Marijke Fleuren, EHF President, for the professional job that the EHF have done with the European Hockey Championships thus far. He then went on to discuss the legacy of his father and the significant role that he played in the establishment of the European Hockey Federation fifty years ago. Leandro felt it a privilege to be in attendance and reflected on the joy that the hockey family brings him saying “European Hockey is really my family; I feel at home”.

Near the end of the lunch, Marijke Fleuren introduced Serge Pilet and thanked him with an EHF banner for the work that Belgian Hockey has done in preparation for the 2019 European Championships.

The delegates, executive board members, and others in attendance wrapped up the lunch with a cake to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the European Hockey Federation.
