Day 2 Roundup – EuroHockey Indoor Championship III

Posted On 19th January 2020

While the cold continue outside the Sports Pavillion of the University of Cantabria, in the first match of the second day of this EHIC, Scotland has shown as a solid team and it has defeated Slovenia 0-9. Slovenian had few chances and Scotland took theirs well.

In the second match of the day, we could watch a Spanish team quite different from yesterday. Spain did not start badly and it got their two goals in the first quarter. But, Spanish players did not get to deploy the play that falls in love with yesterday. A tough Irish team defended well.  Therefore, the final result of 3-0 seems a fair result.

The rain arrived in Santander and the cold increased in the afternoon session. But Wales and Scotland offered us an intense, competitive match, which created a warm atmosphere. Both teams had a lot at stake: a place in the final. So, they went on the attack and Walles got a favourable result of 3-1 at the middle of the match. But, Scotland went more aggressively after the break and got to tie the match 3-3 in two minutes. Again the Welsh were ahead on the scoreboard, which finally the Scots close in a final result of 4-4.

In the last match of the day, Ireland got its first victory in the tournament against Slovenia, which has not yet scored a goal. And, probably, this Slovenian target was the most attractive of the match and even the audience encouraged from the stands to achieve this first Slovenian goal. But, Ireland won the match 4-0.
