Final Day – EuroHockey Championship III, Santander

Posted On 20th January 2020

It has been the most emotional day of the tournament. Smiles and tears. It is quite difficult to choose where to start. Obviously, everybody of the hockey world knows Spain won the Eurohockey Indoor Championship III 2020 of Santander. Congratulations!

The match was really intense, fast and, some times, though. The Scots scored the first goal of the final but failed to make the Spanish nervous, who tied the game the next minute. We had to wait at the end of the third quarter to see another goal from Spain, which quickly neutralized Scotland before entering the last quarter. That was when the Spanish force appeared to get three more goals and win the championship. Spain was smiling; Scotland was crying.

Previously, we were able to attend the match for third place between Wales and Ireland. Wales, which had not yet achieved a victory, was ahead for many minutes. But the Irish got to win the game with two penalty corners in the last two minutes of the game. Cruel and bitter way to finish the tournament.

Final Ranking:

Team
1  Spain
2  Scotland
3  Ireland
4  Wales
5  Slovenia
