Germany, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Belarus progress to the semi-finals

Day 2 got underway with a must-win game for the Czech Republic if they wanted to progress to the semi-final. Germany earned their semi-final slot with a comfortable win over Belgium in spite of a much-improved performance from the Belgians. In Pool B The Netherlands finished top of the group with an impressive win over Austria. The hosts, Belarus put on a show for a noisy home crowd.

Match 9: Czech Republic v Ukraine  5-4

The opening game of the day was a cracker! The Czech Republic needed nothing less than a win to progress to the semi-finals! Ukraine went ahead by 2 the second quickly countered by Czech. The score was 2-1 at half time. A five-goal final quarter ended with Czech getting the winner in the 40th minute and a place in the semi-final.

Match 10: Germany v Belgium 7-3

A much-improved Belgium both defensively and on the attack led the game at half time 2-1 v the current Champions, Germany. Germany came back in the second half and took control of the game, finishing 6-3 in their favour. A comfortable win for Germany in the end and a top of table finish but Belgium was happy that this performance will stand to them in the Pool C games to avoid relegation and earn a possible World Cup slot.

Match 11: Netherlands v Austria 5-0

The Dutch attach proved too strong for Austria in this final Pool B game, earning the top position and a chance to avoid the current Champions in the semi-final later today.

Match 12: Switzerland v Belarus 0-7

A strong and determined home side racked up 7 goals without reply in the final Pool B game.
